Shen Changyu and DPMA President Hold a Bilateral Talk

On the afternoon of July 10, during the Sixty-Fifth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held a bilateral talk with Eva Schewior, Preisent of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA). Their discussions focused on the latest progress in both IP work and future cooperation between the two offices.

 

Shen noted that the DPMA is one of the earliest partners to establish a cooperative relationship with the CNIPA. Over the years, the two offices have deepened their cooperation, achieving significant results in various fields. Shen introduced the progress China has made in the past year regarding the improvement of IP system, examination and grant, and information construction. He expressed hope for further strengthening exchanges and cooperation with the DPMA to create a more comprehensive IP protection environment for the industries and rights holders of both countries.

 

Schewior highly praised the longstanding friendship between the two offices and shared the latest progress and future trends in patent and trademark applications of Germany, as well as the implementation of the European Unitary Patent System. She looked forward to continuing dialogue and exchange and promoting mutual benefits in the future to better serve the innovators in both countries.

 

Both sides agreed to enhance pragmatic cooperation in areas including legal policies, examiner exchanges, and the application of artificial intelligence.
