Recently, the signing ceremony for the establishment of the Guangdong Cross-Regional Intellectual Property Rapid Collaborative Protection Alliance for Kitchenware and Sanitary Ware Industry Clusters was held at the Chaozhou Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Tableware and Cookware.

As a nationally renowned "Hometown of Stainless Steel Products," Chaozhou has developed a comprehensive industrial chain covering the entire tableware and cookware sector. The Alliance was initiated by the Chaozhou Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Tableware and Cookware, with the aim of leveraging the city's extensive industrial clusters to establish a cross-regional intellectual property protection network and provide stronger protection for the innovations and intellectual property rights of thousands of local enterprises engaged in stainless steel products, daily-use ceramics, kitchenware, and related industries.

Chao'an District's Caitang Town is one of China's leading industrial clusters for stainless steel tableware and kitchenware. Chaozhou is home to nearly 3,000 businesses engaged in the tableware and cookware industries, with product offerings spanning tens of thousands of categories, including daily-use ceramic tableware, stainless steel kitchenware, plumbing and sanitary ware, and more. These products are exported to more than 60 countries and regions worldwide. Given the rapid pace of product innovation and iteration, design patents have become a key source of competitiveness for enterprises. For many years, however, cross-regional counterfeiting and infringement, coupled with the high costs and lengthy procedures involved in pursuing rights protection outside the local jurisdiction, have remained major challenges restricting the further growth and development of Chaozhou's kitchenware industry.

Under the overall guidance and coordination of the provincial and municipal market regulation authorities, the Chaozhou Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Tableware and Cookware joined forces with five other national-level intellectual property rights protection platforms—the Foshan Intellectual Property Protection Center, Dongguan Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Assistance Center for Furniture, Shunde Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Home Appliances, Yangjiang Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Hardware and Cutlery, and Kaiping Intellectual Property Rapid Rights Protection Center for Plumbing and Sanitary Ware—to formally sign a cooperation agreement and establish the Guangdong Intellectual Property Rapid Collaborative Protection Alliance for Kitchenware and Sanitary Ware Industry Clusters.

The official establishment and launch of the Alliance marks the full rollout of a cross-regional intellectual property collaborative protection network for Guangdong's kitchenware and sanitary ware industries. On the one hand, the Alliance will facilitate the efficient handling, at the local level, of patent infringement cases involving Chaozhou kitchenware products distributed across different regions, thereby building a strong intellectual property protection framework for Chaozhou's distinctive industries. On the other hand, drawing on Chaozhou's experience in protecting intellectual property rights within the tableware and kitchenware industry, the Alliance will explore a new model of coordinated intellectual property protection for kitchenware and sanitary ware industry clusters across Guangdong, with a view to developing a replicable and scalable approach based on the "Chaozhou experience".

The Alliance has also identified a number of key tasks for its future work and called on all member organizations to fulfill their respective responsibilities and implement the commitments set out in the cooperation agreement. Leveraging the efficiency and convenience of administrative adjudication, the member organizations will work together to handle various patent infringement disputes involving kitchenware and sanitary ware products. They will also establish a regular communication mechanism with the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation, compile and analyze representative intellectual property rights protection cases involving Chaozhou's stainless steel and ceramic kitchenware industries, and strengthen guidance and support for enterprises in responding to overseas intellectual property disputes. These efforts will help Chaozhou-based kitchenware enterprises assess potential risks and mitigate foreign patent risks as they expand into international markets. In addition, the Alliance will progressively carry out data intellectual property review services to support the digital and refined transformation and upgrading of Chaozhou's traditional kitchenware and sanitary ware industries.
