8th China-Mongolia-Russia IP Seminar Held

On October 21, the 8th China-Mongolia-Russia IP Seminar was held online themed on issues related to industrial design protection. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the CNIPA, Grigory Ivliev, Director General of Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), and Enkhsukh Battumur, Director General of Mongolia’s Intellectual Property Office, spoke at the seminar via video link.

 

Shen Changyu said in his speech that the three sides have maintained stable, continuous and practical trilateral cooperation in intellectual property work. The three offices have taken many measures to combat COVID-19 and promote economic, trade recovery and growth to protect the interests of global IP users. He said that China continues to improve its IP legal and working systems and has approved the 4th revision of the Patent Law, allowing industrial design protection to adapt to the development needs of the times. Shen Changyu added that the CNIPA is willing to deepen trilateral ties and bolster the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor.

 

Grigory Ivliev said that Russia attaches great importance to IP work, especially industrial design, and continuously improves its service capacity and protection level by providing temporary protection, expanding objects of protection and optimizing examination procedures. Russia is willing to maintain and advance friendly communication and win-win cooperation with China and Mongolia.

 

Enkhsukh Battumur said that Mongolia continues to enhance IP education and public awareness to strengthen IP protection. According to the action plan of the Government of Mongolia (2020-2024), Mongolia will improve its level of IP protection, optimize its business environment and improve the legal system, adding that Mongolia is willing to advance trilateral cooperation in IP.

 

Experts from the three countries also spoke on industrial design systems and the law, provided an update on progress made and the latest data, as well as examination procedures and the application and practice of the Hague System. Representatives present at the seminar exchanged ideas on topics of common concern.
