In 2010, my country accepted 391,000 invention patent applications, a year-on-year increase of 24.1%. Among them, domestic invention patent applications (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) were 293,000, accounting for 74.9% of the total, a year-on-year increase of 27.9%; foreign applications were 98,000, accounting for 25.1% of the total, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%. Among the domestic invention patent applications, there were 224,000 job applications, accounting for 76.5% of the total; 69,000 non-job applications, accounting for 23.5% of the total. Among the domestic service invention patent applications, 155,000 were filed by enterprises, accounting for 69.2%; 48,000 by universities, accounting for 21.4%; 18,000 by scientific research institutions, accounting for 8.0%; 3,000 by government agencies, accounting for 1.4%. In 2010, 135,000 invention patents were authorized in my country, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%. Among them, 80,000 domestic invention patents were authorized, accounting for 59.3% of the total; 55,000 foreign patents were authorized, accounting for 40.7% of the total.
