China's intellectual property protection wins international trust

At the press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the 24th, Tian Lipu, director of the State Intellectual Property Office, Fu Shuangjian, deputy director of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and Yan Xiaohong, deputy director of the National Copyright Administration, introduced the development of intellectual property in my country in 2012.

In 2012, my country's intellectual property-related work achieved remarkable results, including new progress in the construction of the legal and regulatory system, a new stage in the implementation of strategies, further strengthening of administrative law enforcement protection and judicial protection, continued substantial growth in acceptance, approval and registration, and achievements in foreign exchanges and cooperation. new developments etc.

According to statistics, in 2012, 217,000 invention patents were authorized, nearly 20,000 PCT international applications were accepted, and the number of invention patents per 10,000 population increased from 2.37 in 2011 to 3.23. In the whole year, 1.648 million trademark registration applications were accepted, and the cumulative number of trademark applications reached 11.36 million, continuing to maintain the number one position in the world. 688,000 works were registered, and 139,000 software copyrights were registered, both reaching record highs. The number of applications for new varieties of agricultural plants exceeded 10,000, and the number of applications for new varieties of forestry plants exceeded 1,000. The annual number of applications ranked second among the members of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). While the quantity is rapidly increasing, all departments pay more attention to strengthening the quality orientation.

Tian Lipu said at the press conference that the outside world believes that China's intellectual property protection is not adequate, but many overseas companies cast a "vote of confidence" for China's intellectual property protection with practical actions. A large number of enterprises have come to China to apply for patents and registered trademarks, and the growth rate of patent applications in China has far exceeded the international average for the same period. These foreign companies not only apply for patents, but also actively invest, including the establishment of some R&D institutions in China. Due to the massive work done on intellectual property protection from the central to the local level, my country's intellectual property protection is making continuous progress. He also called for the protection of intellectual property rights to reduce confrontation and accusations among countries and work together to create a good environment for intellectual property protection.

In order to welcome the 13th "April 26" World Intellectual Property Day, the national "anti-pornography and illegal" working group organized various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities today to hold the 2013 centralized destruction of infringement and piracy and illegal publications. The Green Bookmark Action with the theme of "Reject Piracy, Embrace Dreams" was launched at the same time. During this event, more than 29.44 million pirated audio-visual products, pirated books, pirated electronic publications and illegal newspapers and periodicals were destroyed in a centralized manner nationwide. Among them, more than 1 million pieces were destroyed in 14 provinces and autonomous regions including Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang and Jiangsu.
