On December 8, the Shanghai International Forum on Intellectual Property, co-hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), opened in Shanghai. Han Zheng, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, met with Shen Changyu, Director General of the State Intellectual Property Office, and Francis Gurry, Director General of WIPO, who came to attend the forum.

Shen Changyu pointed out that Shanghai, as the vanguard of my country's reform and opening up and the forerunner of scientific development, plays a leading, demonstration and driving role in intellectual property and other fields. In recent years, Shanghai has made it clear that it wants to build a scientific and technological innovation center with global influence. To achieve this goal, Shanghai has a very good foundation and conditions. The State Intellectual Property Office will strengthen cooperation with Shanghai in the field of intellectual property to promote the early realization of this goal.
Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong, Shen Changyu and Francis Gurry jointly attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches.
In his speech, Yang Xiong said that intellectual property is an important resource for development and a core element of competitiveness. Shanghai has always attached great importance to intellectual property work. In recent years, two rounds of intellectual property strategic outlines have been implemented successively, focusing on strengthening the creation, utilization, protection and management of intellectual property. Shen Changyu said in his speech that in today's world, economic globalization is deepening, knowledge economy is in the ascendant, and intellectual property rights are increasingly becoming a topic of common concern for all countries. In recent years, with the implementation of the intellectual property strategy, China has made great achievements in intellectual property creation, utilization, protection, management, services and international exchanges, and has ushered in a new round of strategic development opportunities. We will deeply implement the intellectual property strategy, strive to build a strong intellectual property country, foster a more vigorous upsurge of innovation, creation and entrepreneurship, and upgrade "Made in China" with wisdom. Francis Gurry pointed out that China is already the second largest economy in the world and takes innovation as the country's core strategy, and Shanghai has set an example in this regard. We believe that intellectual property can bring more competitiveness to China's development. WIPO hopes to further increase cooperation with China and make positive contributions to this end.
The forum lasted for two days.
