The Second Meeting of the Fifth Council and the General Membership Meeting of the Guangdong Copyright Protection Association (GCPA) was recently held in Guangzhou. According to information released at the meeting, the Association has officially launched a series of new copyright service initiatives, marking a further expansion of its professional service framework.

At the meeting, the establishment of several new specialized bodies was formally announced, including the Copyright Dispute Mediation Center, the Copyright Appraisal and Authentication Services Working Committee, the IP Licensing and Transactions Working Committee, the IP Brand Strategy and Planning Working Committee, as well as the Shenzhen Office of the Association.

Building upon its existing role in people’s mediation of copyright disputes, the Copyright Dispute Mediation Center has expanded its scope to cover commercial mediation, with non-litigation dispute resolution as its core mechanism. The Center aims to provide a fast, flexible, and cost-effective channel for resolving copyright disputes, thereby enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of copyright enforcement and protection.

The Copyright Appraisal and Authentication Services Working Committee will offer services covering a broad spectrum of copyrighted works, including literary works, musical works, fine art, photography, audiovisual works, computer software, and technological works. By providing scientifically grounded appraisal opinions and professional legal-technical support, the Committee seeks to strengthen evidentiary standards and technical assessment capabilities in copyright-related matters.

The IP Licensing and Transactions Working Committee will focus on exploring and promoting industry standards for copyright licensing and transactions, with the goal of building a comprehensive, copyright-centered transaction platform that integrates licensing, transfer, and commercialization services.

Meanwhile, the IP Brand Strategy and Planning Working Committee aims to activate Guangdong Province’s rich copyright resources by establishing a full-chain empowerment system encompassing creative incubation, copyright protection, brand development, and industrial integration, thereby facilitating the transformation of copyright assets into sustainable commercial value.

The launch of these new service initiatives reflects the Guangdong Copyright Protection Association’s continued efforts to enhance its professional service capabilities, promote the market-oriented utilization of copyright assets, and support the high-quality development of the copyright and cultural industries.
